Rather than stay in the areas we know inside-out, we opted to stay at Mama Shelter for our most recent trip to Paris. Located in the 20eme, I haven’t really spent much time in the area. Unlike than the usual chocolate-box pretty Paris I’m used to (don’t get me wrong – I love that Paris too), staying in the 20eme showed us a side to the city that I hadn’t experienced before, it felt more like Berlin or London with cool kids and graffiti everywhere.

On our last evening we ate at the hotel restaurant – this Mama Carmina starter was to die for, just endives, onion gratin and parmesan. I’ve been trying to recreate it since we’ve been home but it hasn’t been quite the same…
Did I mention there is an iMac in every room so you can take pictures of yourselves that are then shown on the screens in the lobby and bar? For a couple of narcissists like us, this provided hours of entertainment.
Best.hotel.ever. And apparently there is a roof top bar in the summer. Never staying anywhere else in Paris again.
Sounds like a great spot in Paris!!
It really is – I’d definitely recommend it!
